What do I do when I'm not reading (or selling) books? This week I used my time off with the Patriot Guard Riders, appearing in support of the family of Sgt. Parker, one of Maine's fallen soldiers. If you've seen me demonstrating against the war, this may surprise you, but I have no trouble reconciling the two positions. I just learned from my step-son, Michael, that he will soon be deployed again to Iraq for fifteen months. I know who to blame for the war, and it's not the soldiers. The Patriot Guard, a national group of motorcyclists from all walks of life and all over the political spectrum, have given me a great venue for expressing my support. Here's a photo by daughter Branwen (Michael's sister, and another PGR member), of me with some of the others this Tuesday up in Salem. --Eric
